The Bears

The Berenstain Bears Show is an American co-produced animated television series based on Stan and Jan Berenstain's Berenstain Bears children's book series, the authors themselves also served as the show's creators. It was produced in 1985 by Southern Star Productions, with the animation outsourced to Hanna-Barbera Australia. In the 2000s, the show was rerun in syndication by DiC Entertainment and Tribune Entertainment through their DiC Kids' Network syndication package. All of these companies have been acquired by other companies several times since then. After Southern Star folded in 2013, Nelvana (producer of the 2002 TV series) obtained the rights to this series, currently sharing the rights with Berenstain Enterprises and WildBrain. It was also released on DVD by Sony.

Most of the production staff from the five specials returned to make this series. It aired on the United States from September 14, 1985 until March 7, 1987 on CBS with over 52 11-minute episodes in 26 half-hour shows produced. Each show consisted of two episodes, the first being an adaptation of one of the books (sometimes with the title changed), the second being an original story.

The series was nominated in 1987 for a Daytime Emmy award for Outstanding Performer in Children's Programming; it was also nominated that year for a Humanitas Prize in the category of Non-Prime Time Children's Animated Show.

It was released on VHS by Sony Wonder and Random House Home Video.

On the VHS releases, at the end of the intro, the show's title is not shown.
